North Paulding High School
Director of Dramatic Arts Kacy Bishop is in her 18th year teaching fine arts. She was bitten by the theater bug in 7th grade (there was a boy...) and quickly discovered that being on stage meant the opportunity to be someone other than the very awkward kid that was "Kacy". She continued performing and working tech throughout middle and high school, performing in the ensemble of as many shows as possible, including "Hello, Dolly!", "Guys and Dolls", "The Sound of Music", and "Godspell". She also played Alys in "The Lion in Winter" and worked crew for "The Crucible" and "Grease".
Kacy's senior year saw her playing the roles of Cinderella in "Into the Woods" and as Maria in "West Side Story". She continued performing in theater at the collegiate level at Shorter College under the direction of David Kleist and Tom Kidd. Mrs. Bishop taught middle school chorus in Rockdale, Cherokee, and Cobb Counties. At each school, she started Drama Clubs to encourage performance opportunities. She also served as the music director for Academy Street Theater (4 years), was the manager of the Greater Atlanta Girls Choir (2 years), managed to find time to conduct two honor choirs and send over 150 students to All-State Chorus along with get married and have two kids! She made the switch to teaching high school theater in the 2020-2021 school year. This is her fourth year directing at NPHS, and she can't wait to meet everyone onstage! Mrs. Bishop is married to Jonathan, a band director, and has two astoundingly quirky and wonderful kids, Ian and Ivy. As a family, the Bishops are aiming to hike and/or visit all 59 of the state parks and historic sites in GA by December of 2021. Next summer, they are planning on starting to conquer the National Parks! **update** we DID visit all 59 parks and sites, and have travelled to California and back in order to visit as many parks as possible... nothing like 30 days in a Nissan Murano with a husband and 2 kids! |
